What makes us different?

We focus on treatments that research shows will foster the most neurological recovery including:

  • High intensity gait training

  • Task specific training following motor learning principles

  • Therapy focusing on driving neuroplasticity for brain change

PT that meets your needs, not the needs of your insurance company

  • Neuroactive does not participate in billing insurance. We provide services that are supplementary or beyond what insurance covers.

  • We encourage you to use your benefits but what we offer is something more than traditional therapy.

    • We can provide therapy at the same time as traditional insurance based therapy to give you more frequent therapy, solve mobility problems in the home that cannot be solved in a clinic, or provide more specialized treatment.

    • We can provide therapy after your insurance benefits have been used when you feel you still have goals to meet.

    • We can provide therapy in the community to help you get back to real life. Insurance companies care about basic function in your home. We care that you can get back to the things you love.

Effective exercise that is challenging and targeted at getting you to your goals. We strive to make sure intensity matches what research says will help you recover, prevent further deterioration, and improve your function and overall heath.

This includes transfers of all kinds (getting in and out of the car, on and off the floor, on and off the toilet, or even on and off your favorite recliner), negotiating stairs, moving in bed, or any other task of moving your body through the day.

FAQs

Do you accept my insurance?

Neuroactive Therapy and Wellness LLC is a private pay practice. As such, Neuroactive is out of network with all insurance providers and does not participate in billing insurance providers. You are responsible for the full cost of treatment at time of service.

Neuroactive does, however, provide you with a “superbill” which is a detailed receipt that you can submit to your insurance provider for possible out of network reimbursement or application of your costs to your out of network deductible where applicable. Neuroactive is not responsible for any part of submitting to insurance providers for out of network coverage other than providing you with documentation.

Pricing can be found here.

Why are you out of network?

Neuroactive does not bill through insurance in order to focus full efforts on providing the best care possible without the restrictions and stipulations put in place by insurance companies. We believe your care should be determined by your needs and what the research says will lead to the best results, not by what a third party insurance company decides they do or do not want to pay for. We work with you on developing a plan of care for frequency and duration of treatment that works for you and gets you to your goals as fast as possible. We also encourage out clients to use their benefits elsewhere to maximize their frequency of therapy which is what research says will lead to the best recovery.

Do I need a prescription?

In Alabama, a prescription/referral from a physician is not required for cash pay physical therapy services.

It is also recommended to have a physician referral if you are interested in pursuing reimbursement through out of network benefits as this is a common requirement for third party insurers.

Do I need to have equipment?

No. We will bring any needed equipment except durable medical equipment (such as walkers, wheelchairs, etc). If you need these type of items, we can assist you in the process of obtaining them. We also strive to make your treatment functional and meaningful to your life so we mainly use things in your own environment. For wellness services, we bring needed exercise equipment but may make suggestions for things you may want to purchase to continue your exercise program.
